- 1). Peel the paper cover from the adhesive side of the tape and adhere about one half inch of it to the insertion tool, a flat metal rod known as a bayonet.
- 2). Insert the bayonet with tape attached into the spine of a hardback book between the binding and the book pages.
- 3). Use the bayonet to apply pressure to security tape once it is completely inside the book, in order to attach it to the spine.
- 4). Remove the bayonet and rub the spine of the book to make sure the tape is secure. The tape should be completely concealed.
- 1). Open the book or magazine to a page with a wide margin.
- 2). Remove the cover from one side of the tape and place it sticky side down as close as possible to the inside bound edge, making it as inconspicuous as possible.
- 3). Close the book and press firmly near the binding to make the tape stick securely to the page.
- 4). Open the book and remove the second cover from the tape and close again, securing this side of the tape by again applying pressure. Once installed, the tape should be invisible.
