How to Grill a Lobster Tail

1

Prepare your lobster tail.As with any lobster preparation, you must thaw a frozen tail. Thaw in a refrigerator for several hours or in the microwave for a few minutes. If the lobster is alive, place it in a pot of boiling water for about seven minutes.
2

Preheat your grill, by setting it to medium or medium high. Once you have your tail ready, take a pair of sharp scissors and cut down the top of the shell, lengthwise, stopping when you reach the fan tail at the end. Gently pull the shell apart, revealing the meat within.
3

Carefully work the meat out of the shell, using your fingers to pull the tail out whole. Leave it attached at the fan-end of the tail, and bring the meat clear of the shell, resting it on top of the empty tail shell below. Now you are ready to begin grilling.
4

Take the tail and place it meat side down on the grill. Grill for 3 minutes, then turn and grill for an additional 3 minutes. Cook until the meat turns opaque, perhaps another 6 or 7 minutes. Cool for a few minutes before eating.
