The Browns are big longshots in NFL wagering at Pittsburgh on Sunday and it does not look great since the Browns will be starting a rookie at qb.
Colt McCoy is likely to get the start for the Browns at Pittsburgh on Sunday vs the Steelers and their difficult defense. The Steelers are a well-liked NFL bet this week at the online sportsbook although they are laying two touchdowns.
Cleveland head coach Eric Mangini has said that McCoy has looked great in practice. With the injuries to Seneca Wallace as well as Jake Delhomme, the Browns have no other options other than selecting the rookie. McCoy was the starting qb for the Texas Longhorns last year and he was obtained in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Browns.
Hope for Browns? Is there any chance that McCoy can survive and perform well vs the top-ranked defense in the league? The pluses for McCoy are that he understands how to win (Most Victories in NCAA history with 45) and that he has more skill than either Wallace or Delhomme. He doesn't have the knowledge though. He will be struggling with a Pittsburgh defense that has permitted the fewest points in the NFL and the 4th-fewest yards per competition. The Steelers have 11 sacks and 12 takeaways this year. The Browns were wanting to sit McCoy this year and let him learn behind Delhomme and Wallace but those plans have adjusted.
Major Value on the Browns €" There's no question the worth in this competition with an NFL bet is on the Browns. They are gaining two touchdowns which is a big number in NFL wagering. And it's not like Wallace or Delhomme are excellent qbs. Wallace was at the least serviceable. Delhomme has been a disaster. McCoy can't be any worse than he was.
Pittsburgh and Ben Roethisberger €" The Steelers will be gaining Big Ben back for this competition. He had to sit out the first 4 matches of the year as a result of suspension but the Steelers went 3-1 devoid of him. Roethlisberger has had a lot of achievement vs the Browns in his career, going 10-1 vs them. The Steelers will probably win on Sunday and most gamblers will expect them to cover the big number since the Browns are starting a rookie at qb.
Even with missing the first couple of matches of the year, it's really not a competition when you contrast Roethlisberger to McCoy. Roethlisberger has been with the Steelers since he was drafted in 2004. He was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, became the youngest Super Bowl-winning qb in NFL history in his second year, has helped to win two Super Bowls, and is a Pro Bowler.
McCoy was a Heisman Trophy runner-up who was not picked until the third round of the NFL Draft this year due to the fact of his small size. The Browns already had 3 qbs when they took McCoy, and it's simply by chance that he'll even be the starter this competition at all. On the flip side, maybe this will be the chance for McCoy to show his worth in the NFL.
