- 1). Clean the sides of the pool with a vinyl cleaner, like Armor All Cleaner. Use a cleaning cloth to apply the cleaner to the vinyl. Apply more cleaner as needed on particularly dirty areas.
- 2). Attach a plastic bristled floor brush to the end of a telescopic pole. The length of these rods adjust easily to allow you to reach even the deepest corners of your pool.
- 3). Work from the shallow end of the pool, and work slowly towards the deep end. If you kick up too much algae at once, the filter won't be able to effectively remove the algae from the water.
- 4). Attach one end of your vacuuming hose to the pool pump. The pump will provide the suction you need to vacuum the floor.
- 5). Attach the loose end of the hose to the top telescopic pole and the vacuum head to the bottom of the pole.
- 6). Gently lower the vacuum head over the debris you can see, so as to not disturb it. Let the pump suck up the debris, and move along the floor until you don't see any pieces of dirt.
- 7). Switch the head of the pole to a leaf skimmer. These are heads that comprise a plastic frame and a fine mesh body. Run the skimmer along the surface of the pool until it is full of leaves.
- 8). Turn the skimmer so the leaves are facing upward, and let any water drain back into the pool.
- 9). Empty the skimmer elsewhere, and keep skimming the leaves away until the pool is clear.
