The last England match in London was not much to write home about.
Given the talk of this being the best England side to go into this world cup in South Africa their performance was abysmal.
The hopes of a nation have been built up and dashed at the quarter-final stages.
However, this time I think we have real hope.
Like the Manchester United team that keeps on winning despite their abject performances, this England team, under the Italian Manager, will go very far.
The man from Italy has instilled a work ethic in this group of players and it was satisfying to see Glen Johnson score with a peach of a goal.
This will give Johnson hope of starting the first match against the USA in little over 2 weeks' time in South Africa on 12 June.
England went ahead in the 16th minute after King headed in a knock-back from Peter Crouch.
This was his first game in three years.
Crouch scored his 21st goal in 38 appearances.
Why Liverpool sold him is a question I ask whenever I see Crouch playing.
And scoring for England.
Just approaching half time, Franco scored for Mexico.
The team from Mexico played much better and were in control until Glen Johnson scored the final goal for England to wrap up the match.
Although England did not play well, they managed to beat a fairly good team that will be in South Africa.
Mexico is a talented team and should qualify to the knock-out stages.
The next England game will be against Japan who will be joining them in South Africa.
