April 23, 2005 - Academy award-nominee Natalie Portman ("Closer") and Academy Award-nominee Javier Bardem ("Before Night Falls") may star in the dramatic movie, "Goya's Ghosts," to be directed by Oscar-winner Milos Forman.
According to Variety, "Goya's Ghosts" is set in 1792 in Spain and features the story of painter Francisco Goya and his teenage muse (Portman), a woman framed by a manipulative monk (Bardem) who is, as Variety describes him, "one of the driving forces behind the Spanish Inquisition."
Filming is expected to begin in the fall of 2005. Forman and Jean-Claude Carriere wrote the script with Forman and Saul Zaentz producing the film.
Natalie Portman will next be seen in "Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith" and is currently filming "V for Vendetta." Bardem is working on "Paris, je t'aime" and may star in "The Last Face" with Sean and Robin Wright Penn.
