- 1). Visit your local Public Housing Agency for an application. Each county in Maryland has its own PHA. You can find yours by looking through the list at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development website. Request a copy of the Section 8 application. The application varies by county, so you must have the one that's specific for your county.
- 2). Fill out and sign the Section 8 application form. Include all necessary information, such as names all of the family members who live with you and their respective incomes. Your family's income must be under a certain amount, which is determined by the number of people in your family. At the time that you receive an offer for assistance, the PHA will verify your income level.
- 3). Submit your application to the local PHA. You can do this in person or by mail.
