- 1). In Microsoft Word 2007, click the "Insert" tab, and then select the "Picture," "Clip Art," or "Shapes" options in the "Illustrations" section.
- 2). Choose the image or file you want for your transfer. If using the "Shapes" option, select and draw the shapes you desire for the heat transfer. Repeat for each design.
- 3). Insert one sheet of transfer paper into the printer so that it will print on the front side of the transfer paper. Typically the front side of transfer paper has no markings on it such as a line or watermark.
- 4). Select print from MS Word 2007, and click on the "Preferences" option.
- 5). Locate and select the option titles either "mirror", "flip", or "reverse". This will allow for your design to print backward.
- 6). Change the paper settings to one of the following: plain paper, special paper, 360 dpi photo quality paper, or T-shirt transfers, and print the design. Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each design
- 1). Preheat iron at its highest setting. For most household irons this is the cotton or wool setting. Make sure to remove any water that may be in your iron.
- 2). Place the pillowcase on the table or work bench and smooth out any wrinkles.
- 3). Place the T-shirt on the pillowcase. If the T-shirt is significantly larger than the pillowcase, center the area you wish to use the heat transfer on over the pillowcase.
- 4). Iron the T-shirt to smooth out wrinkles.
- 5). Crop your transfer by cutting off any blank areas surrounding your image, and place the transfer face down on the garment in the position you desire.
- 6). Applying heavy pressure, adhere the transfer to the T-shirt using the iron in small circular motions over the entire area of the transfer. Continuously do this for 60 to 90 seconds.
- 7). Allow the transfer to cool for 2 minutes after ironing the transfer on to the T-shirt, and then slowly and gently peel away the transfer from the T-shirt.
- 8). Repeat the steps if you are applying an additional transfer to the same T-shirt or if you are designing multiple T-shirts with multiple transfers.
