One of the first things that you might want to do when you get a new puppy is train him to do some of the things that you want him to do, or don't want to do for that matter.
Dog training can be a very simple process to master.
It can also be a very difficult process if you don't take the time to do it right.
One of the most important things to remember when training your dog is to know when to reward your dog for certain behavior.
Never, I repeat, never, punish your dog for the bad behavior that displays.
Instead, reward your dog for the good behavior that he displays.
One way that you can reward your dog is with basic words of praise.
Use phrases like "Good boy", or "Good doggy" in an excited tone so your dog knows you are sincere about your approval.
When training your dog to perform the basics like sit, come, or stay, it's important that you develop a strategy for teaching those actions, and that you repeat that strategy as much as possible.
Repetition is another key to successful dog training.
Rewarding your dog for successfully completing the action that you desire is also very important, and is the reason why your dog will want to perform the action in the first place.
If there is no reward for his actions, then he will not perform them.
If you speak your command and then guide your dog through the desired action the first few times, he will eventually learn how he is supposed to react in order to achieve the reward that is desired.
At this point he will then perform the action that he knows will earn the reward.
Dog training can be simple if you make it that way.
By teaching your dog the actions you want him to learn, and then rewarding him for carrying out that action, you can train your dog to do just about anything that you want.
