- Carmustine is an intravenous chemotherapy drug, generally administered in six-week cycles. Carmustine can be taken with other chemotherapy medications.
Some common side effects of Carmustine are decreased blood cell count, headache, and nausea and vomiting. - Temozolomide is a drug taken orally. This drug cannot be taken in conjunction with other chemotherapy medications. Temozolomide is often administered to people who are relatively healthy, as it is a stronger chemotherapy medication used especially for tumors that have reappeared in individuals that have already been treated.
Some common side effects of Temozolomide are a drop in white blood cell count, nausea and vomiting, and fatigue. - PCV is a common treatment option for brain tumors. This treatment is a combination of the drugs procarbazine, lomustine and vincristine. Lomustine and procarbazine are taken orally, while vincristine is administered through an injection. Cycles on each of the drugs vary.
The side effects of this treatment option are very different, as all three drugs individually have their own, and many patients experience some combination of side effects from all three drugs.
