5 entertainment tips for travelling with kids

With school holidays nearly here, here are some great tips when travelling with children.

And let's face it, any advice to make travelling with children that bit easier is always a result! So as you think about packing your passport and tickets don't forget to pack some of the following that could well make an airport delay, long haul flight or lengthy coach transfer that little less stressful!

Just read on for some great entertainment tips when travelling with children.

1.Holiday ‘Party' Bag
Just think, a child loves nothing more than a party bag! Well, why make a holiday any different? Only this time, instead of giving it to your child at the ‘end of the party' give it to them at the beginning of the holiday. Whether that's at the airport, once on the plane or in resort, a holiday goodie bag packed with puzzles, sticker books, colour pads and pens, a new story book, a magazine etc. will keep them entertained for a long while. And why not pad them out with some treats too – sunglasses, a little packet of sweets, even a disposable camera!

2.iPods & MP3 Players
Nearly everyone has some kind of MP3 player, iPod or smart phone. Well, did you know that you can download your child's favourite TV episodes or film? Not only will this help keep them occupied as you're stuck at an airport or on a long, boring, plane journey but they are a great idea for the evening too. This way you can enjoy a relaxed dinner, whilst the children are engrossed in their favourite film!

Investing in a pair of children's headphones is a good idea too!

3.Pre-record a Story
Whilst we're on the subject of iPods and MP3 players... if yours has a video mode record yourself reading their favourite bedtime story. This can really help calm little ones down.

4.Snack Packs
Small children get hungry – a lot! In fact, chances are they'll be even hungrier. Partly as you may have been up since the crack of dawn due to an early flight or simply travelling whereby you've inadvertently missed out a meal. Always travel with a snack pack. And it doesn't have to be full of naughty snacks either. Fruit pouches, fruit bars and such like, all which count towards the important five-a-day, are delicious and light to carry.

5.Pack their Favourite Toy
Whatever you do don't forget your child's favourite toy! Or comforter if they have one. This will really help them settle to sleep when they are in a new and strange ‘home from home' whilst you're away.

Happy holidays!
