How to Take the Mower Blades Off My Cub Cadet

    • 1). Drive your Cub Cadet lawn mower onto a hard, level surface and set the parking brake. Turn the ignition key off and remove the key. Open the hood and disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug at the front the engine.

    • 2). Place the jack under the front of the frame. Make sure that the mower deck linkage is clear. Raise the mower off the ground and slide the jack stands under the frame in front of the tires. Lower the jack until the frame of the lawn mower is resting on the jack stands. Ensure that the mower is stable. Put on a pair of work gloves.

    • 3). Place the wooden block between the left-side blade and the mower deck shell. Turn the blade until it jams the wooden block against the mower deck. Place the socket over the bolt in the middle of the blade. Turn the bolt counterclockwise and remove the bolt, washer and blade. Repeat for the other blades.
