- Depression is a clinical diagnosis in which the individual suffers from sadness, loneliness or a feeling of emptiness; he may be ready to give up on everything. Depression is not gender specific, and without medication and treatment, it can lead to isolation, self-harm or suicide. When you are dating someone with depression, it may be hard to develop a normal relationship without a sacrifice on your part.
- As with most mental disorders, there are support groups for spouses, family or loved ones who have a relationship with someone who is depressed. Join one of these groups to learn from others' experiences.
- When you are dating a depressed guy, you might want to invite him to your home. A change in venue can help relieve some of the symptoms. You might not want to go out in public because the depression may have your guy not willing to enjoy the night out. His social skills will be suppressed, and when connections are not made with other people, the depression may deepen.
