- 1). Press the magazine catch to release the magazine.
- 2). Pull the slide all the way back to eject any round that might be in the chamber. The slide will stay locked and open.
- 3). Inspect the chamber visually to make sure it is clear.
- 4). Press the slide catch lever to close the slide.
- 1). Pull the slide back to the stop. Lock it open by using the slide catch lever.
- 2). Lower the takedown lever to its vertical position.
- 3). Pull the slide back slightly until the slide catch lever releases. The slide will then move slightly forward.
- 4). Pull the entire slide assembly forward off the frame.
- 5). Turn the slide over. Press the recoil spring guide forward slightly. Lift it up out of the slide assembly.
- 6). Lift the barrel up out of the slide assembly.
- 1). Squeeze a small amount of gun oil on the cleaning brush to lubricate it.
- 2). Insert the cleaning brush into the barrel, opposite the muzzle end.
- 3). Wipe the chamber and barrel bore with cleaning patches to remove gunpowder residue.
- 4). Brush the exterior of the barrel with the cleaning brush.
- 5). Wipe the frame guides, slide, recoil spring and recoil spring guide with a cleaning cloth. Use the brush on the inside of the slide and on the frame if they are particularly dirty.
- 6). Lubricate all pieces lightly with gun oil.
- 1). Hold the slide upside down. Re-inset the barrel back into the slide.
- 2). Place the recoil spring guide into the assembly, on top of the barrel.
- 3). Guide the slide back onto the front of the frame. Align the slide with the rails on the frame. Make sure the takedown lever is in the vertical position.
- 4). Pull the slide all the way back until the slide catch lever engages. With the slide locked in the open position, lift the takedown lever up to its horizontal position.
- 5). Press the slide catch lever. The slide will release and slide into the normal position.
- 6). Press the decocking lever to decock the hammer.
