- 1). Cut the ribbon for the bow ties. Cut each piece of ribbon to a length of six inches and cut one piece for every 2 1/2 inch-long bow. For a 30 inch-long necklace, you will need 12 pieces of ribbon.
- 2). Shape one piece of ribbon into a circle and sew a stitch through the overlapping ends.
- 3). Push down on the circle, above the overlapping ends, to make a two-loop bow shape. Sew a few stitches through the center to keep the bow shape. Leave the thread attached.
- 4). Wrap the thread around the center of the bow and pull to pinch the center together. Sew a few more stitches to keep the shape.
- 5). Cut a two inch-long piece of ribbon and wrap it around the pinched center. Sew the overlapping ends to the bow.
- 6). Put a drop or two of hot glue on the back of an imitation gemstone or rhinestone and press it against the center of the bow.
- 7). Repeat the above steps to make the five remaining ribbons into bows.
- 8). Line the bows up end to end on your work surface. Overlap one end over top of the adjacent end by about 1/4 inch and sew through the layers to join the two bows together. Use a thread in the same color as the ribbon.
- 9). Sew each adjacent pair of bows together in the same manner to form the necklace. Bend the necklace into a circular shape to sew the edges of the outer bows together to complete the necklace.
