Cyber bullying and online defamation - can you catch the offenders?
On June 7th 2014 Wernher Pramschufer won the rights to domain name wernherpramschufer.net with a successful ICANN case. He made a compelling case, which was upheld, that the Respondents who purchased the domain did so in bad faith, with intent to mislead and disrupt his business and violate his Trademark.
The offenders, who have posted up a series of malicious, pornographic and slanderous websites, articles and posts over a period of three years defaming and attacking him, have had the domain name transferred to Mr Pramschufer. That came as no surprise considering they purchased with false credentials and used it to post up slanderous and utterly false claims.
However, these hate filled people (and it is believed that there are two of them working together) naturally purchased another domain name wernher-pramschufer.com with the same intent to post a website full of misleading, false and derogatory claims.
Mr Pramschufer has now engaged Lyonswood, a leading forensic IT team to trace the inevitable footprints from the offenders that are left when websites and domain names are purchased. Although they have tried to cloak their identities with false names and addresses and credit card information they are now the subjects of a new investigation by the Australian Police.
Mr Pramschufer, who is Managing Director of Attractive Films, has also engaged a legal firm to coordinate the private investigation that is running parallel to the police investigation. Attractive Films has top lawyer Paul Renney as a director of the company - as well as leading media lawyer Charles Moore who is an Executive Producer of the film Tolkien & Lewis that the company is producing.
Having kept three-year records of emails, webhosting company data (including the latest one co-operating with the investigation) and conversations with organisations such as 1888 and WikiAnswers the investigating team believe that they will successfully locate the offenders IP addresses - although they will be probably from public hotspots. But Lyonswood is relentless and thorough.
Although it has been a three-year battle to uncover the persons responsible for these profane, small minded and, quite frankly, stupid public attacks on a composer and film producer, there seems to be a clear light at the end of the tunnel.
Small-minded jealousies, combined with a virulent and almost pathological hatred against one individual, leave one wondering about the motivations and indeed sanity of some people.
So for now, when you see or read something regarding Wernher Pramschufer just have a look at who really is the author. Indeed, perhaps this could be the making of a very relevant film!
