GT"s Organic Raw Botanic No. 7 Kombucha Review
About.com Rating
Like GT's Organic Raw Botanic No. 3 Kombucha and GT's Organic Raw No. 9 Kombucha, GT's Organic Raw No. 7 Kombucha is a sparkling tea made through natural fermentation.
Nutritional Information & Health Benefits
Each bottle of GT's No. 7 Kombucha contains two servings of kombucha. Each serving contains 30 calories and two grams of sugar, which is great compared to most bottled drinks (and even most bottled teas).
Kombucha is purported to have many health benefits. While some of these are questionable, it is generally thought that properly made kombucha is a healthful beverage for people without adversity to low alcohol levels and the teas and herbs used in a given batch.
This particular kombucha also contains chamomile (which is a soothing herb), hibiscus (which has been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol in some people), orange peel (which has some benefits, but is more around for flavor) and ginger (which is said to have many health benefits, most of which relate to digestion and mood).
Aroma & Flavor
GT's Organic Raw Botanic No. 7 Kombucha contains kombucha, hibiscus, orange peel, chamomile and fresh pressed ginger. It has an oddly salmon-pink color due to the hibiscus and orange peel and a cloudiness due to the ginger, but its aroma and flavor are good.
The scent is mostly a mix of kombucha tartness and hibiscus tartness. The flavor is more tart than most kombucha drinks, due to the hibiscus.
It has a tart finish with pronounced notes of chamomile and kombucha. On the whole, it is slightly better than Honest Tea's Berry Hibiscus Kombucha (which has been discontinued).
Top Kombucha Teas to Try
Ranked at four stars, this is a very good kombucha. However, there are a few kombuchas that I recommend even more highly. Here are the kombucha teas I've rated at 4.5 or five stars:
