Are you a company that is considering entering into the social media marketing arena? Of course, it goes without saying, I think you are probably making a good move.
But you may have a number of questions, the answers to which will dictate whether or not you wish to embark further along these lines.
Have you thought of the advantages of using social media as the publishing platform? This is something that many companies are already doing quite successfully and to their positive and permanent advantage.
Social media is not simply interacting with customers and prospective customers, sorting out their problems and questions.
It can also be about being within the space of your customers and clients.
Being known and recognized can help your brand and services.
An example of this would be publishing an extended blog post or article or even a forum post detailing the latest views and opinions of the product or service that you happen to have some connection with.
The actual post may not be promotional in any shape or form but may stimulate your readers into taking action either in the guise of finding out more information about your products and services or determining whether or not to make a purchase.
Other businesses may wish you to act on their behalf depending on your specific direction.
Let us say, for example, that you run a double glazing company.
You may wish to write something regarding how double glazing can reduce noise pollution and keep your house warmer.
There is no specific promotion or sales pitch but, from reading your article, people will be first of all, more aware of your brand, secondly more aware of your propensity to share useful and valuable information and thirdly more more aware of their possible need for, in this case, double glazing to help their specific problems.
This can all be done by taking the time to share useful information which does not exactly solve all the problems of your potential customers and clients but which will stimulate them into seeking further information either directly from myself or via other social media or offline channels.
