The theory behind the laser comb is that hair growth will be stimulated by Photo-Biostimulation.
 This means the stimulation of the hair follicles by the action of the light emitted from the hair growing product.
 It is claimed that this Low Light Laser Therapy (LLLT) will offer a stimulating effect to the hair roots and thus jump start their production of hair shaft material.
 The FDA application states the heat generated by the light therapy will increase blood flow to the hair follicles which in turn will cause them to produce hair faster.
 This has not been proven in double blind scientific testing although there is anecdotal evidence from customer that speaks to its effectiveness.
The cause of male pattern baldness is a buildup of DHT, a metabolite of the male hormone testosterone, that inhibits the free flow of the blood supply to the hair follicles.
