I have always had auto insurance and life insurance but never health insurance. Not sure why but I just felt like I never needed it, call me cheap or stubborn but I never wanted to pay for it. If I ever were to have a terrible car accident or got really sick I really did not care how I was going to pay for it. I was always if good health so and could afford to pay for any medical needs.
Things changed, I was married and were about to have our first child. Being the sensible husband and father to be I had decided to cover ourselves and our unborn with the best health insurance money can buy. It was Lucky I did because this pregnancy was going to be the most horrible experience of our life.
Seventh months in to her pregnancy my wife was admitted to the hospital. She started to experience severe pain and complications and needed to remain for the rest of her term. They were focusing on keeping my with alive but the baby was also at risk. The room was constantly full with several different doctors, pediatric specialist and nurses. She needed intensive care until all the way to the delivery.
The baby was finally delivered with both he and my wife barley clinging to life. With the baby having serious complications for breathing he was immediate rushed into surgery. My wife was facing a long and difficult recovery. With the baby's lungs being damaged very badly he required a second surgery and intensive care for several weeks. My wife soon recovered and all we could do was watch and pray. It took a while but he recovered, unfortunately he will suffer with a disability for the rest of his life.
How anyone could have survived all this is beyond me. If it was not for the incredible actions and dedication of the hospital my wife and son probably would not be here today. I firmly believe that without our great coverage somehow it would have not turned out so well. We were covered and are still cover today for my sons ongoing needs.
