- Challenge your friends to a round of golf during the summer at the Bear Lake Golf Course (no website; 2180 S. Country Club Drive; Garden City; 435-946-8742) in Garden City, Utah. The nine-hole, hilly golf course is located on the shores of Bear Lake. You'll come across four lakes and a stream during your game. Additionally, you're game will be a challenging one with the numerous sand bunkers found throughout the course.
- Fish for Bonneville cisco, Bonneville whitefish, Bear Lake whitefish and Bear Lake sculpin in Bear Lake or in the area's reservoirs, streams and creeks. Go fishing for whitefish, steelhead trout and bluegill in the Montpelier Reservoir. If you're in Bear Lake with small children, or you or someone you're with is physically challenged, the Montpelier Rearing Pond provides easy access to fishing.
- Water sports on Bear Lake, with more than 160 square miles of water, include jet skiing, boating, water skiing, swimming and sailing. You'll find seven boat ramps located around the lake, and the Bear Lake Marina (stateparks.utah.gov) has overnight boat slips and a five-lane boat ramp.
- Bike along the 4.5-mile loop trail, Swan Creek Trail, which is accessed off of US 89 from Lakota, Utah. Ride your bike on the 2.5-mile Little Creek Reservoir Trail, which is accessed from downtown Randolph, Utah. The 3.5-mile Laketown Canyon Trail can be accessed at the Laketown, Utah, rodeo arena. For a one-way trail, bike along the Bear Lake Summit/Meadowville Trail, which is accessed from the Bear Lake summit or Meadowville, Utah. Go biking from Harbor Village to Ideal Beach on "The Bear Trail," a 4.2-mile paved trail.
- Horseback ride along mountain wilderness areas on the Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway (logancanyon.com) in Logan, Utah, where you'll pass through forests, meadows, rock formations and scenic views. You'll also find horseback trails in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (fs.usda.gov) and Caribou-Targhee National Forest (fs.usda.gov).
- Ride your ATV on hundreds of miles of ATV trails in Bear Lake. Trail maps are available in U.S. Forest Service offices of the Montpelier Ranger District and Soda Springs Ranger District. You can even map a trail route with your phone or GPS, or print a PDF version of U.S. Forest Service trail maps.
