Does a Prepaid Credit Card Work Online?

    16-Digit Numbers

    • When purchasing online, websites will ask for the 16-digit numbers that appear at the front of your prepaid credit card. Normal credit cards have these numbers and if your prepaid card has it too, you may use it like a credit card online as long as your prepaid card has the same features as a normal credit card.

    Expiration Date

    • Normal credit cards will have an expiration date. If your prepaid card has the four digits that represent the month and year that the card expires (for example xx/xx), you may use this card for online purchases.

    Card Security Code

    • A typical credit card will contain a three-digit card security code on the back of the card. For American Express cards, it will be a four-digit code located on the front. If your prepaid credit card has this code, you may use it online.
