- 1). Sign up for a free email newsletter at mousesavers.com. It's full of information on Disney parks, including discounts. Mouse Savers sends the newsletter on the 15th of the month, but you can't receive back issues, so sign up early if you plan to visit Disney World. You also can get emails on special news and hotel discounts, which sometimes include Disney hotels.
- 2). Order the planning DVD from the Walt Disney World website. It includes information on the hotels and rates. The website also offers special deals.
- 3). Plan your trip during the off season if possible. Summers, Thanksgiving week, the week after Christmas and the weeks surrounding spring break are the busiest, and rates will be their highest. Disney offers discounts to fill rooms during the off season.
- 4). Book your room over the phone instead of online. The Internet is convenient, but the Disney operators are trained to make your vacation wishes come true. Call 407-939-7429, and ask the operator for the lowest rate available. There might be deals she knows about but won't offer unless you ask. If eligible, mention AAA, AARP or travel clubs. Active and retired military members and their families should ask if there are any military discounts available. Ask about Shades of Green, a Disney resort hotel exclusively for military members.
- 5). Consider an "Authorized Disney Vacation Planner" travel agency when booking your rooms. Your agent will know many tricks, tips and discounts you might not learn about on your own.
