What"s Happening at the National Western Stock Show?

The National Western Stock Show gallops into Denver every January, kicking up dust and reminding residents of the ranching and farming roots of the Mile High City. The stock show will be held at the National Western Complex from Sat. Jan. 10 - Sun. Jan. 25, 2015.

The stock show, a Denver tradition for more than 100 years, features Pro Rodeo events as well as exhibits of livestock and Western gear. Children will likely enjoy the National Western Nursery, a feature at the stock show which showcases newborn farm and ranch animals.

New this year, Chevy will sponsor the first-ever BBQ Throwdown at the National Western Stock Show .

"The Chevrolet brand fits like a glove with the National Western," said John Ellis, vice president of partnership and business development for the Stock Show, in a statement. “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Chevrolet in presenting our opening day barbecue contest. It will be a fantastic event to help launch the 109th Stock Show."

The BBQ Throwdown, slated for Sat. Jan. 10, includes 40 teams competing for four prizes on the opening day of the Stock Show. Visitors can enjoy chicken, brisket, pork and ribs at the food festival from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in parking lot H.

"Chevrolet’s support of the inaugural BBQ Throwdown is the perfect way to celebrate our long-standing relationship with the National Western Stock Show,” said Craig Vickers, marketing manager for Chevrolet, in a statement. "We know every barbeque competitor will live up to the renowned Kansas City barbeque standards, just like each Chevy car and truck lives up to the tough demands of our customers."
