- 1). Locate where the main water line enters the house. The pipe usually enters through a basement or crawl space.
- 2). Follow the water line until you come upon the pressure regulator. This device is made out of brass and sits along the pipe. It has a dial on the top.
- 3). Loosen the nut around the bottom of the water pressure regulator by turning it counterclockwise several times using a wrench or pliers.
- 4). Turn the dial on the top of the regulator using a screwdriver or pliers until the needle points to 70 psi. This will increase the pressure from the pre-set 60 psi setting that most homes come with. The additional 10 psi will increase the overall pressure in your lines to all elements of your home system, including sprinkler systems, appliances and faucets.
