How do I Remove Metal Stains from Porcelain?

    Lemon Juice and Salt Method

    • 1). Pour several tablespoons of household table salt on to the metal stain. Arrange the salt crystals to form a small pile on top of the stain.

    • 2). Pour a tablespoon of lemon juice over the pile of salt.

    • 3). Allow the salt and lemon juice mixture to sit on the stain overnight.

    • 4). Check the salt for a change in color. The salt will appear rusty as it draws the stain out of the porcelain. Rinse the stain with water to remove salt and lemon residue.

    • 5). Gently scrub with a pumice stone to remove any remaining metal stains.

    Ammonia Method

    • 1). Add one part ammonia and one part room temperature water to a medium-sized mixing bowl.

    • 2). Pour the ammonia and water solution over the metal stains.

    • 3). Use a soft scrub brush to scrub away the metal stains.

    • 4). Rinse away the ammonia solution with cool water.

    • 5). Pour any remaining ammonia solution down the toilet or tub drain to rinse out potentially rusty plumbing.
