- 1). Place the silicone bakeware on a flat, even surface like a counter top or cutting board. Because the material is so flexible, it's important the pan is stable so the batter will fill the molds evenly.
- 2). Spray the bakeware with a light application of cooking spray. Silicone naturally resists sticking, so this is precautionary--a fine layer will do. Wipe away any excess drops of cooking spray.
- 3). Fill the bakeware with a batter of your choice. Whether you're making cake, muffins, cornbread or any other delightful goodie, make sure you follow the recipe directions regarding the proper size of bakeware to use.
- 1). Preheat the oven according to the directions in your recipe. Never use Wentworth Corporation's flexible silicone bakeware above 490 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the upper temperature limit recommended for the material.
- 2). Place the silicone bakeware on the middle rack of the oven, taking extra care not to accidentally bend the pan and let spill batter inside the oven. Because silicone bakeware is so sensitive to cooking temperatures, place the pan on the middle rack to ensure it is far enough away from the oven's primary heat source.
- 3). Set your kitchen timer to ring 5 or 10 minutes earlier than the time indicated in your recipe. Silicone bakeware sometimes cooks faster than traditional pans and cookie sheets. Monitor your baking until you learn the particularities of how the silicone mold acts in your oven.
- 4). Check your baked goods using a toothpick inserted into the batter, about two inches from the side of the silicone bakeware. When the toothpick comes out clean, without any batter sticking to it, your food is done.
- 1). Remove your baked goods from the oven using an oven mitt. Place the silicone bakeware on a towel on your counter top and allow it to cool completely.
- 2). Extract your baked goods from the silicone bakeware very carefully to make sure the batter didn't stick to the pan. Items should pop right out with no problems, but if any areas stick, tap the bottom of the silicone bakeware and gently squeeze it to loosen the baked goods.
- 3). Clean your silicone bakeware by hand washing with dish soap and hot water, or simply place it in your dishwasher to clean with your next load of dishes.
