- 1). Sand the old paint job to remove the paint from the racquet. Use a metal paint scraper to flake the material off the handle. This is the most difficult aspect of the repainting process and requires a strong physical effort.
- 2). Cover the entire grip with masking tape. Set the racquet on a table and lay a piece of construction paper over the netting and rim. Trace the inside of the rim with a pencil and cut the shape with scissors. Trace the circle and cut a second matching circle to match the netting.
- 3). Trim the edge of the paper less than one-inch. Place the paper on the netting and tape the edges with masking tape. Repeat on the opposite side of the racquet. You must protect all of the unpainted parts with paper and tape. Painting the netting drastically reduces the bounce and efficiency of the racquet.
- 4). Lay the racquet on a piece of cardboard and spray an even coat of primer on the exposed material. Leave the racquet to dry for one hour. Turn the racquet on the opposite side and repeat the process.
- 5). Spray a thin coat of spray paint on the racquet and leave it until the paint dries. Turn the racquet over and apply a coat of spray paint to the opposite side. Apply a second coat of paint to each side of the racquet.
- 6). Spray a clear coat over the dried spray paint and leave it to dry for one hour. Turn the racquet over and spray a clear coat on the opposite side. Remove the tape and paper when the racquet is dry.
