- Eggs are very high in cholesterol. Though they do have many other benefits to them, such as also being high in protein, the cholesterol level is extremely high with only one egg. There are 225 mg of cholesterol per egg.
- Butter has always been known to be high in fat and too much butter is never a healthy choice. However, it is also very high in cholesterol as well. A 3.5 oz serving of butter or approximately one scoop, has 250 mg of cholesterol.
- Kidney, a beef product, is another one to watch for. It is extremely high in cholesterol and may not be as obvious as other meat products. A 3.5 oz serving of kidney of any kind, has 375 mg of cholesterol.
- Liver is another beef product that is high in cholesterol. Though high in protein, there are 300 mg of cholesterol per 3.5 oz serving.
- Sponge cake may seem like a good option to substitute for other cakes and pies. However, there is 260 mg of cholesterol per 3.5 oz serving. This makes it as unhealthy as many other cake choices.
