- 1). Buy rolls that are the right size for your meal. A lunch-size roll about 6 inches wide will hold about 1 cup of soup or chili; a dinner-size roll will hold about 2 cups.
- 2). Slice off the top of the roll with a sharp knife, and set it aside.
- 3). Dig out the inside of your roll with a large spoon, leaving at least 1 inch of dough around all sides and the bottom of the bowl. It's not necessary to be exact or to have a smooth or symmetrical hollowed-out bowl.
- 4). Heat your bowl in a 200 degree F oven for 10 minutes prior to serving.
- 5). Ladle chili or soup into the bowl immediately before serving, so the bread will not become soggy. Fill the bowls to within 1/2 inch of the rim.
- 6). Serve the top of the bowl along side, or place it back on top.
