How to Install a Door Bottom Sweep

    • 1). Measure the width of the door.

    • 2). Trim the door sweep to the door width measured in Step 1, if necessary. Most door sweeps match standard door widths, but proper fit occasionally requires trimming. If needed, cut the sweep's flange and rubber seal using a hacksaw and utility knife.

    • 3). Hold the sweep flat against the bottom edge of the door. Position the sweep level, with the rubber seal pressed evenly onto the threshold.

    • 4). Mark each of the elongated screw holes in the flange with an awl or center punch to create a pilot hole for the mounting screws.

    • 5). Attach the door sweep to the door using the panhead screws supplied. Check the threshold seal by viewing the sweep's rubber seal at floor level to ensure it sits evenly on top of the threshold and no spaces can be detected. Adjust the sweep's height, if necessary, by loosening the relevant screws and moving the sweep flange up or down, then re-tighten the screws.
