How to Protect Your Debit Card Number

    • 1). Shield your pin number while using your debit card in public places. You can do this by covering your pin number with your free hand or using a large bag to block others from viewing it.

    • 2). Shred or protect any document that contains your debit card number and or pin.

    • 3). Memorize your pin number and never give it to anyone. The pin number is the backbone of a debit card. The debit card only works if you have the pin number. Therefore, it should never be shared.

    • 4). Always choose random numbers for your pin. Using easy numbers such as your address, birthday, anniversary or telephone numbers can be cracked easily if your wallet is ever stolen or lost.

    • 5). Register for online account access at your bank. This is a great way to track your purchases and monitor your bank account and debit card activity.
