- Planning ahead and incorporating themes and items from the race track helps you throw a perfect race car birthday party. Use things that are used at race tracks, like checkered flags, to give your party an authentic feel and look. Everything from the food to the games should keep within the race car theme.
- For your invitations, you can go several creative directions. For example, create a driver's license for each invitee. Another option is to create field passes with your child's picture on it, and have it be the ticket to get into the Pit Party. Or, you can send out a conventional invitation, which can be found at any party store.
- Put up decorations that are seen at the race track. For example, put up checkered flags and authentic Goodyear flags. You can find these at party stores or at Goodyear stores. On the snack table, have small toy cards scattered on the table. Make a race track around your backyard out of yellow and black duct tape. The kids can race and play games on this.
- Get or bake a car-shaped cake, or a cake with the image of a car on the cake. Create a special drink, using sports drinks, soft drinks, and water and give it a name. For example, make fruit punch, but call it Pit Stop Punch, or another clever name.
- In the goodie bags, put things like race car fruit snacks and Matchbox cars. You can add whistles and checkered flags to the bags as well. Give these to the kids at the beginning, so they can race their cars.
- Play games throughout the day. One game that takes a bit of work, but provides lots of fun, is box races. Cut the top and bottom out of four 2-foot-by-2-foot boxes. Paint each one a different color. Split the party into groups. Let each group decorate their cars with stickers or paint. They can have relay races around the duct tape track in your backyard. Have prizes for the winner.
