- 1). Use a tape measure to determine the length and width of the window opening where you would like to install a screen.
- 2). Use an electric saw to cut the framing materials included in the screen kit to the measurements determined in Step 1. Lay the materials on a flat surface with the groove side facing toward you. Piece the frame together by sliding the framing materials into the included corner pieces.
- 3). Use sharp scissors to cut the screen material 3 to 4 inches bigger than the measurements determined in Step 1.
- 4). Lay the screen on top of the frame and use the spline tool, which resembles a pizza cutter, to push spline material into the groove to hold the screen in place. Stretch the screen as you install it into the frame.
- 5). Trim the excess screen from around the edge of the frame using scissors.
- 6). Slide the screen into the window track and clip it into place; some screens require rotation of a lever at the top to secure it into place.
