- 1). Examine the crack in the guitar. Check to see if the crack is open or closed, and where the grain in the wood aligns within the crack.
- 2). Apply a generous strip of wood glue along the length of the crack. Wipe away the excess glue from the guitar's surface with a dry rag or paper towel.
- 3). Fold paper towels and attach them to each of the C-clamp's grips with duct tape to pad them. Open the clamp all the way, lay the guitar on its side, position the clamp onto the guitar's body near the crack. Slowly tighten the clamp until the crack closes. Avoid over-tightening the clamp so you do not further crack or damage the guitar.
- 4). Allow the glue to dry thoroughly, according to the wood adhesive's instructions.
- 5). Remove the C-clamp and apply a wood polish to the damaged area of the guitar. Follow the polish's label instructions for specific application and drying instructions.
- 6). Repeat this procedure to repair any other cracks in the guitar's body.
