- NSCA stands for the National Strength and Conditioning Association. An NSCA Personal Training Certification is regarded very highly in the fitness world, and is only awarded to those candidates who pass a rigorous physical fitness and written examination.
- The NSCA offers personal training certificates in two categories. The NSCA-PT is awarded to those seeking strictly the personal trainer's certification, and the NSCA-CSCS is more geared towards fitness professionals specializing in strength and conditioning training.
- Candidates for NSCA certification are tested in several categories that are related to health and fitness. These categories are nutrition, exercise technique and science, program design, evaluation and organization administration.
- The NSCA Personal Training Certification consists of a 4-hour examination. Given in two parts, the exam is broken up into 90 minutes for part one and 2.5 hours for part two.
- NSCA trainers often work with professional athletes, college level athletes, high-profile celebrities, as well as patrons of health and wellness centers, and youth in specialized sports training camps.
- If you succeed in being awarded an NSCA personal training certification, you will be given a certificate with an official, raised seal, and also qualify to be part of the NSCA registry. Registered members receive public recognition and are placed in a searchable database, which is helpful for career advancement.
- Visit the NSCA website and click the "get certified" button to get detailed information about dates and locations for training and testing (see Resources below).
