The objective is to find a company that not only meets your current job requirements; but a place where you can grow your career. See what the company website has to say about the culture, diversity, opportunities and work-life balance.

    Network, Network, Network

    • Begin with your friends and branch out. Inquire about colleagues they might know who are working at your target companies. Become diligent at introducing yourself at networking functions and online. Join social networking sites such as Linkedin.com where professionals connect to share leads and recommendations. Meet with independent recruiters who specialize in your industry. Placement specialists often have established dedicated relationships with key companies.

    Follow Up

    • Become a master at follow-up. A key area in job placement is sincere gratitude. When someone provides you with a lead, make certain to show your appreciation. Stay in touch with them and return the favor when you can. The same goes for interviewing. Always thank the interviewers in writing. Send a thank you within 24 hours of the interview and make certain it relates to your discussion.
