- The PSP Slim is 19 percent smaller than the original PSP. The thickness of the Slim model measures 18.8mm, compared to the 23mm of the original. The Slim is also 3mm shorter height wise and about 1mm shorter length wise.
- The PSP Slim is also 33 percent lighter compared to the original PSP. The Slim weighs in at about 3 oz. less than the original. The original PSP weighs 9.8 oz., while the PSP Slim weighs in at 6.7 oz.
- The biggest addition to the PSP Slim is the video output port. This allows you to connect either a set of composite or component cables to display your PSP on a TV. With the component cables, you are able to export your video to a TV screen and watch UMD movies at a resolution of 720x480, about equivalent to that of a DVD.
- Internal Storage on the PSP slim was bumped up from 32MB to 64MB. This allows for more game data to be temporarily store onto the system's internal memory, which yields faster load times when playing UMD games.
- Since the PSP Slim is smaller, it comes with a slightly smaller battery. The Slim will last for about five hours of gameplay, compared to the eight to ten hours of the original. However, the original battery will fit into the Slim, giving you extra battery life. The Slim also has the added ability to charge off of its USB cable while connected to a PS3 or computer.
- In 2008, Sony released an updated version of the PSP Slim, model number 3000. This model was mostly similar to the previous Slim, but added a microphone to be used with Skype as well as a brighter, more colorful LCD screen.
