- 1). Check that the camera has a sufficient charge by turning it on and pressing the third button down to the right of the rear view screen, marked with an "i" in a circle; this is the information button. A small graphic of a battery will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. The camera should have at least half a charge; if not, recharge the camera.
- 2). Power on the camera using the top-mounted center power button. Hold the camera facing the subject or the sunset/sunrise so that you can clearly see the settings wheel to the immediate right of the power button. The wheel has several settings that add automatic functionality to picture taking and make the camera easier to use. Normally all pictures would be taken on the "smart capture" setting, but in the case of low light sunset pictures, the picture result will be too dark. Set the wheel to the "scn" setting.
- 3). Press the OK button on the right bottom of the rear view screen and choose "sunset" from the many available options using the outer ring of the "OK" button. This setting will preset the camera for great sunset shots.
- 4). Aim the camera using the view screen to center the sunset as desired. Depress the shutter button halfway to allow the auto focus to sharpen the image correctly. Then continue depressing the button all the way until the picture is taken. It will appear on the view screen as a still shot.
- 5). Take another shot or several shots following the same half way depression and then full depression method on the shutter button.
- 6). To view all the sunset photos use the fourth button down on the right side of the view screen while the camera is powered "on." Use the outer ring, pressing left or right to scroll through the photos.
