Lawn care – Adopting Organic Methods

The sweet and invigorating smell of a freshly mowed lawn is something each and every one of us will enjoy.  It is possible to make this dream come true, if you adopt simple methods and going the organic way.

It is always better to adopt natural lawn care methods, especially if you have children and pets around.  But if the lawn needs a serious treatment, you have no other alternative left but to go in for chemical methods.  Achieving a perfect lawn is not all that rocket science.  First and foremost have a plan in order.  Once you have written down things, the next step is to plan how you are going to achieve it.  If you feel that you may require help for the needs, then it is best to contact a lawn care or lawn maintenance company who will do the entire job for you.

Very small lawns can be maintained without much of a problem.  Simple watering and mowing may not take up much of your time.  However, one needs to bear in mind that maintaining consistency in is important as otherwise your lawn will suffer the aftermath of your ignorance and laziness.  Mowing the lawn is an important activity that needs to be done with care and caution, do not cut the grass too short or else the roots will wilt away.  Watering your lawn is important, never overdo it.  Excess water may loosen the grass roots which is detrimental to your lawn.  Grasses like dandelions, crabgrass and broadleaf weeds may attract insects and plant diseases.  Hence, make sure you get rid of these.

Watering the lawn everyday may not be healthy for your lawn as the roots may become weak.  It is important that you water your lawn only when required.  Check out for organic maintenance programs that are available online on the internet.   When you use synthetic fertilizers, you are only sprucing up the top layer of the soil which is not quite sustainable.  When natural fertilizers and compost is used, the soil becomes fertile and the lawn is able to grow in a healthy manner.  A simple soil test report will tell you whether the soil is good or not.  The test is not all that expensive.  Many lawn care experts recommend a soil test report and based on this report, measures are suggested.  It has been researched and established that organic methods of lawn care are definitely effective, even if it is a long process.

If your lawn is a victim to weeds, then the first thing you need to do is to get rid of these weeds.  Weed control is an effective lawn care method and you can rest assured that your lawn remains in good condition.
