- 1). Ask your friends, neighbors and relatives who may have paid for their homes to be insulated to recommend insulation contractors. This will help you start a list of possible contractors.
- 2). Call your energy company. They can often provide you with some names of reputable insulation contractors in your area.
- 3). Use resources offered by the Insulation Contractors Association of America to find out more about insulation contractors near you.
- 4). Get references from each of the insulation contractors you're considering and follow up on them.
- 5). Make sure the insulation contractor you pay to insulate your home offers you a contract. The contract should state the nature of work, the amount you're paying and the type of insulation they're using in your home.
- 6). Check the work after the insulation contractor is finished and before you make the final payment. Look at some of the insulation to make sure it's the same type you paid for.
