The Gift of Magic - The Secret to Living in a Perpetual Sense of Awe!

From the moment I became pregnant with my first daughter I knew I was embarking on a magical journey.
I felt so vibrant and alive! I could feel this new life flowing through every cell of my body.
I loved being pregnant! I felt the most intimate connection with this little being that was literally a part of me! What an amazing and beautiful thing! I was blessed with an easy pregnancy and found myself in a perpetual state of awe as this little being continued to grow inside me.
My husband and I chose not to find out the sex of our baby and spent hours day dreaming about who this little person would be.
Little did I know what profound lessons this child would teach me! When I locked eyes with her for the very first time, time stood still.
I could have gotten lost in those beautiful eyes that looked right into my soul.
It's that feeling of timelessness, of breathlessness that is the most precious gift a child can give.
When the world stops and you are truly present in that moment, to simply experience it, relish it, and just BE! The gift of living fully in the moment, without a care about schedules or deadlines...
When you give yourself fully to that moment, that experience changes you...
releases you, reminds you of where you truly need to be.
The first few years of my daughter's life were filled with magical moments - teaching moments - that transformed my life in the most extraordinary way.
I wondered over and over again how my heart didn't burst from the overwhelming love I felt for this tiny creature.
All of those "first" that fill you with immeasurable pride and joy -- first smile, first sound, first laugh, first time your baby turns her head in recognition of your voice, first meal, first word, first steps...
But the most precious gift my daughter gave me was the power to look at the world through her eyes.
Her eyes saw only the beauty and magic of the world.
Eyes that saw possibility in everything.
Eyes that saw a world filled with wonderment and awe...
No need to control...
Just explore and delight in the tiniest things.
As a working mom I had plenty to think about, to juggle each and every day..
I had just launched a new business and had manyresponsibilities that demanded much of my attention.
But in her presence, everything took it's rightful place.
Seeing the world through my young daughter's eyes taught me to be young again.
She reminded me that the world is indeed a special place, and even the most mundane things I had long since ignored, were actually miraculous and special...
when you looked at them through the eyes of a child.
My daughter started running almost as soon as she learned to walk, and everything she did, she did with excitement and joy! As she began exploring the world around her, she would squeal with delight at the sight of everything! She was truly my little ray of sunshine.
I rediscovered God's beautiful creation, the importance of pausing in our rushed world, and the magnificence of the simple things all around us.
It is then I fully understood this Bible verse:
"Unless you become like little children, you shall not enter the Kindgom of God.
"
Pslam 8
This is our invitation to pause when the turmoil of our day to day life pulls us away from what is truly precious.
I was blessed with two more beautiful girls and the opportunity to rekindle that sense of wonderment all over again...
and just when I needed a little reminder.
My girls still look at the world as a glorious and beautiful place.
Nothing makes my heart sing like hearing one of them say with awe "Mom, look at the beautiful painting God has made in the sky!" Today I invite you to look at the world through those eyes.
Turn off the TV.
Forget about the laundry.
Make time to simply be.
Focus on YOU and where you are right now, without a thought of where you are going.
Stop right now and take a deep breath.
Enjoy it.
Remember there is a miracle is every flower, every blade of grass, and every little child that walks this earth.
Make time ti drop what you are doing and take your child on a walk and surrender to the world through their eyes...
I promise you, you won't be sorry.
See your world as though you were discovering it for the first time, with awe and excitement...
You will see it in all its beauty...
And you will never forget this moment of real love shared!
