- 1). Hire an attorney to draft a new deed. The new deed should be identical to the first with the exception of the survivorship clause.
- 2). Obtain a legal document called a "transfer of deed." Review this document with your partner.
- 3). Fill out the entire transfer of deed document. Sign the document with your partner in the presence of a notary and two independent witnesses. Obtain the notary's seal and the signature of both witnesses on the document.
- 4). Sign the old and new deeds with your partner. A notary's seal and the signature of both witnesses must be affixed to the bottom of this document as well.
- 5). Visit the county clerk's office. Submit your paperwork to the clerk for verification and filing.
