Improve Your Handicap

Something that we all want to do is improve our handicap however it does require some hard work.
Hard work which everyone does not want to put in.
Whether you are just new or more experienced, we all want the same thing - to become a better golfer.
This little article is directly aimed at the golfers out there who want to reduce those scores and improve their handicaps.
Now we all know golf is one of the hardest games it's so infuriating at times.
It's a game which can be so complex and yet so simple at the same time.
Hit the ball get it in the hole it's an easy objective right? It sounds so simple doesn't it? The Professionals certainly make it look so easy at times but for us amateurs who are not so natural to the game it takes hard work to improve.
The biggest problem is the playing time; most of us are guilty of not playing enough.
We expect to hit those low scores every time we step onto the course.
The more time you put in the more you will be rewarded.
Now we all desire those low scores but this leads to pressure and tension.
You might start playing well and as you get nearer the end the pressure will mount.
If on the on other hand you get off to a bad start the tension might finish your round off before you have even started.
If you can relax and enjoy the game you will see improved results.
I know it's hard to have fun out there at times but it's something you need to develop in your game.
Try to forget about your score if you can the more you will about it the more pressure you will put on yourself to perform on the next hole or next round.
Learn what your handicap means.
It means you don't have to par every hole.
It means you have strokes to play with.
Don't get yourself down if you are not hitting birdies or pars.
Negative thoughts will only have a bad influence on your game.
Learn to accept the ups and downs of the game.
Try to play to your handicap on a regular basis.
Take each hole one at a time.
So imagine you're a handicap of 18 you step up to the first tee.
The first hole is a par 4 and has a stroke index of 1.
Play your game here, go for the par but hey if you don't get it and end up with bogey it's no big deal.
Par is a bonus here but bogey makes sure you stay within your handicap.
No matter what the result is move on the first hole is now history, move onto the second and refocus.
The final thing I want to do is reiterate myself.
The important steps to remember here is to play to your handicap whether it is 28, 18 or 8 try to play to it on a regular basis, and when you're out on the course relax and enjoy yourself.
These simple things will reduce your handicap.
