How to Create a Photosynthesis Diagram

    • 1). Draw a plant or flower in the center of the board to make a basic diagram. Make certain to include a root structure and leaves. The plant represents the central participant in photo synthesis.

    • 2). Illustrate the sun and sunlight rays above the plant. You can do this by drawing arrows toward the plant in the center.

    • 3). Draw a soil line the plant roots extend into under the plant. Under the soil, draw water and directional arrows that indicate its absorption by the plant.

    • 4). Draw directional arrows pointing at the leaves on one side of the plant. On the other, draw arrows (in a different color) coming away from the leaves.

    • 5). Label the directional arrows using handwriting or rub-on/sticker lettering. The arrows coming from the sun represent "light energy" and from the water droplets to the root structure represent "water and nutrients." Arrows directed at the plant represent "carbon dioxide gas," and away from the plant represent "oxygen."

    • 6). Print a synopsis of photosynthesis elsewhere on the chart. The plant takes solar light energy and combines it with water and nutrients to clean carbon dioxide and create oxygen.
