- 1). Locate and download a jailbreak application, including Spirit, Redsnow or Snowbreeze.
- 2). Connect your iPod touch to your computer using the supplied USB cord. "Gizmondo" recommends that you back up your iTunes library before moving forward with the jailbreak. Click "File," "Library" and "Back up to Disc." Choose to back up your entire iTunes libray and playlists, or just your iTunes purchases. Insert a blank CD or DVD and click "Continue." You may need to use multiple CDs or DVDs to back up your device.
- 3). Check the requirements outlined by the jailbreak application. You may need to update your iTunes software and iPod touch software.
- 4). Update the iTunes software by clicking "Help" from the main menu. Click "Check for Updates." If there is a new version of the iTunes software available, a box will appear asking you if you want to download it. If required by your jailbreak application, click "Download iTunes" to install.
- 5). Update the iPod touch software by selecting the player under Devices on the left side of the screen. Click the "Summary" tab to see which version of the iPod touch software you currently have installed. If required for your jailbreak application, click "Check for update" to get the latest version of the iPod touch software.
- 6). Launch the jailbreak application and follow the instructions. Leave the computer and iPod touch alone while the application runs. When complete, disconnect the iPod touch from the computer.
