A Behind The Scenes Look at Brainy Baby - Page 2

Q: What is a typical day at work like?

There's NO such thing as a "typical" day in my job! If we're in production on a new title, I'm in the studio playing with children to get them to cooperate for the camera - waving rattles at an infant to make him smile, clapping for a toddler to get her to say her ABCs, or doing some crazy dance behind the camera to get a child to sing and dance to the music.

Otherwise I may be working on a Press Release, talking to a customer on the phone; in the edit suite with the other editors and producers fine-tuning a video production, or answering an email interview for About.com!

Q: What difficulties do you face in your job?

The #1 difficulty: So many ideas, so little time! We have SO many wonderful ideas for future DVDs and other products, that we can hardly keep up with them! You should see my "future projects" file - it's overflowing! We'll never run out of new ideas - we just have too many brilliant people - and customers! - who keep coming up with them. And we have the most amazing and unique team of people at Brainy Baby. Each one has skills and talents and personalities that can't be duplicated! We work well as a team, which is essential at our company - no one ever says, "that's not my job." but no one is shy about saying how they really feel about something, either :-) !

Q: Do you have any advice to parents regarding early learning techniques?

Again, provide a well rounded program of learning tools, baby videos, books, toys etc. Our videos are not designed to be the only thing a baby has.

Q: Do you have any specific products you'd like to recommend for kids?

Our Left Brain and Right Brain DVDs are really wonderful. They increase capacity by focusing on creativity, logic, etc. We also have a line of Vtech toys designed to complement the learning experiences of the videos. Our board books are awesome and they include big, bold bright colors for little hands and little eyes to enjoy.

Q: Do you have any advice to offer people wanting to go into the production industry?

Take any job you can - you never know where it will lead!

Q: What does the future hold for Brainy Baby - any exciting plans, developments coming up?

We are branching our signature Right & Left Brain multimedia developmental programs into more consumer products. So you'll be seeing Right & Left Brain Brain on a multitude of new products soon. We are also in production in new series: our faith based series called Mustard Seeds, a sports series called Sporty Baby and a line aimed for older kids called Brain Kids.

Marcia, I'd like to thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and experiences with About.com. I wish you and the entire Brainy Baby team all the best for the future. May you keep producing such wonderful work!
