- 1). Fill a bucket with warm water. Add 2 tbsp. liquid dish soap.
- 2). Scrub the bronze with the solution until it is completely clean and grease-free. Grease will prevent phosphoric acid from working.
- 3). Rinse the bronze and let it air dry completely.
- 4). Put on gloves, goggles and a dust mask to protect yourself from the extremely toxic phosphoric acid. Open windows to ventilate the room and keep children and pets away from the area.
- 5). Apply phosphoric acid to a clean cloth.
- 6). Rub the cloth over the bronze statue until it is completely coated.
- 7). Immediately rinse the phosphoric acid off with clear water. The solution is highly toxic and it works very quickly. Be careful not to splash the phosphoric acid on your skin.
- 8). Buff the bronze with superfine steel wool. This will help shine the bronze surface.
- 9). Rub the bronze dry with a piece of cloth.
