There's never a lack of fun things to do when you vacation in Galway, Ireland. Whether you're visiting during the winter season or the height of summer, there are plenty of attractions for you and your family to enjoy during your stay. Here's just a sample of some of the events that you can enjoy:

The Safety Direct Galway International Rally is the biggest annual event in the West of Ireland during the winter months and brings thousands of spectators and rally teams to Galway during late January and early February.

March brings Seachtain na Gaeilge, which is the annual international festival organized by Conradh na Gaeilge to promote the Irish Language.

And of course, who could forget St Patrick's Day in Ireland? The Galway St Patrick's Day Parade is widely regarded as one of the best in Ireland and features pipe bands, dance groups and performance artists come from all over the world. Up to 50,000 spectators line the streets of the parade route from start to finish, creating a non-stop carnival atmosphere.

Looking for something more cultured? The Town Hall Theatre is the major performance arts venue in Galway. This historic building, which dates from the 1820's, hosts drama, concerts,
musicals and diverse events including the Cirt Literary Festival (April), Galway Arts Festival (July), Galway Film Fleadh (July), and Babor Children's Arts Festival (October).

In May it's time for Cro Lough Corrib Cycle in Connemara. This very popular annual bicycle tour around Lough Corrib is a great fun event for the whole family with a choice of a 29 mile route or a much longer 75 mile one. The event starts with a complimentary breakfast runs from Galway through Moycullen, Oughterard and Maam Valley for the 29 mile version.Those riders who really want to go the distance continue on through Cornamona, Cong, Headford before finishing back in Galway (75-miles).

If you want something a bit less physical, the Galway Early Music Festival also runs annually in May. This internationally-renowned event features concerts by top performers, as well as workshops, school events and music and theatre held in Galway City Museum and on the streets of Galway. The festival has a unique and relaxed atmosphere that highlights
the artistic and cultural richness of the area of the Galway area.

The Little Havana Festival is Galway's newest festival which takes place in the Latin Quarter. Enjoy a three-day program of free events including Cuban inspired music, dance, street entertainment, face painting, balloons, street art, Arcana, street games (including hop-skotch, chess and draughts), free Salsa and percussion classes. And don't forget to claim your place in Ireland's longest conga line!

The Galway Sessions are held every June.These music sessions feature some of the best of Irish musical talent and take place in multiple venues in Galway City, including the Crane Bar, Risn Dubh, Monroe's Tavern, The Quays, Tigh Neachtin, Tigh Cil, Taffees,
Massimo's, and ras na Gael.
