- 1). Open any windows or doors in the kitchen area for ventilation.
- 2). Remove the oven racks and any aluminum foil or covers from the inside of the double gas oven.
- 3). Wipe away any greasy food spills from the double gas oven with a damp sponge.
- 4). Close the double gas oven door, and set the control panel to self-clean using instructions from the owner's manual. The heat can produce a lot of smoke and some small flare-ups, so keep an eye on the oven during the cleaning cycle. If you have a fan, use it to circulate the air.
- 5). Open the oven door when the cleaning cycle is complete and the oven is cool. Wipe away any ashes from the oven floor and window with a damp sponge, rinsing it with clean water if necessary. Do not clean the door gasket.
- 6). Replace the oven racks.
- 1). Fill a glass dish with 1/2 cup of ammonia, and place it on a cookie sheet.
- 2). Open the oven door, and place the cookie sheet in the oven. Allow it to sit overnight without turning on the oven.
- 3). Open the oven door and remove the cookie sheet and oven racks.
- 4). Fill a sink with hot water and add 1 to 2 tbsp. of dish soap.
- 5). Dip a sponge in the soapy water and wring it out. Wipe any residue from the inside of the oven, rinsing the sponge in the soapy water as needed.
